Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: A fairly local insect, found in well-established birch areas where it flies actively in sunshine. There are now several known localities in all vice-counties except VC65.
Argus 47, 2001-04:
VC65. High Batts 27.3.1984 (SPW). NEW VICE-COUNTY RECORD.
2012 (CHF): Widespread in birch woodland. The paucity of records in the north-west and south-east reflects a lack of suitable habitat. Increased numbers of records in recent years (particularly 2012) are probably due to some fine sunny weather in late March.
