Similar species: Common Marbled Carpet.

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: Generally common in higher areas near woodland but occasionally recorded from widely scattered lowland sites all over the five vice-counties.

2012 (CHF): Still fairly widespread with most records coming from upland areas, but there has been a decline in numbers in the last few years. Take care not to confuse this univoltine species with the similar but bivoltine Common Marbled Carpet. It flies from mid-July to the end of September and records outside these dates may be incorrect.
