For the county, we have a total of 6140 records from 511 sites. First recorded in 1883.
Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: Well distributed over all five vice-counties but varies greatly in density. For instance, there are only a few Wharfedale (VC64) records but at Baldersby St James (VC65) it is common. The larvae feed on hawthorn in hedgerows.
2012 (CHF): Widespread in good numbers all across the county. The population appears stable.
