Species Account

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: Now increasing slightly again in the County, this species was one of the many that became quite rare in the middle of the present century. Most records are from reasonably well-wooded areas near moorland. Several records are shown for the north side of Upper Teesdale by Dunn and Parrack (1986), but it has not been recorded in this area of VC65.

2012 (CHF): There has been an increased number of records in recent years. Commonest in upland broadleaved woodland but also a lot of records in the Leeds area. This is interesting as Porritt considered Bradford to be the headquarters of this species. Rare in VC61 and no records from VC63 since 2001 but doing better in the other vice-counties.
