Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: The present distribution of this species in Britain is apparently restricted to Scotland. Bradley, Tremewan and Smith (1979) comment 'In England, there are old and unconfirmed records from....Yorkshire (Scarborough)'. There seems no valid reason for casting doubt on the Scarborough record, which was detailed by Stainton (1857) and S.J. Wilkinson (1859) wrote 'It was captured by Mr T. Wilkinson of Scarborough, (to whose kindness we are indebted for specimens of this insect). Its rediscovery in Yorkshire would be very pleasing.
