Species Account
Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: In Porritt's list (1883-86) this moth was found at several sites in vice-counties 62 and 63. Except for a mention by Walsh (1956) for Scarborough (VC62) it was not then recorded again until 1973 when three specimens were found at Spurn (VC61) (BRS). There have been further records in several subsequent years, all specimens on or near the VC61 coast and believed to be vagrants, although it might possibly be established at Spurn.
Beaumont, 2002: Despite the comment in 1989 that this species might possibly be established at Spurn there has been no evidence to support this contention. Indeed B.R. Spence comments that all records have been of males caught during periods of south-easterly winds and associated migratory activity, he is confident that all records are of immigrants.
Current status (CHF, 2011): A big increase at Spurn from 2004 onwards and along the coast has led to spread inland in VC61 and 62.
