For the county, we have a total of 166 records from 68 sites. First recorded in 1885.
Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: This is a very erratic migrant which does not usually get as far north as Yorkshire. The only records since the last list (YNU, 1970), are from Meanwood, Leeds (VC64). The first was on 7.7.1986 by G. Boyd (confirmed J. S. Armitage). There was a second (unverifiable) record in 1987 and a third on 6.9.1988 at the same site (GB). This must suggest either a small resident population or that this species is being bred locally.
Beaumont, 2002: This irregular migrant has been recorded more frequently in the County with 1996 providing an exceptional number of records.
Argus 52, 2006: A similar but slightly smaller influx compared with the previous species [Scarce Bordered Straw]. 77 records of 98 moths spread over all five VCs with the biggest numbers reported from the Spurn area. Records started at Spurn on 14th June (BRS) with the main influx in August. The last moth was at West Melton on 27th September (HEB).
2012 (CHF): No recurrence of the excitement of 2006 with one record in 2008 and 5 in 2009.
