First recorded in Britain in Devon in 2003, probably accidentally introduced. Prior to this, the species was considered endemic to Italy, but is believed to be spreading its range. Following the first record it has been recorded in many southern counties, reaching Lincolnshire in 2019, and then two individuals were attracted to light at Langthorpe (VC65) in 2020.
