Species Account

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: Now much less local and also much more common where it does occur. Recorded quite widely, including in the Harrogate area where it was previously notable by its absence (YNU, 1970).

2012 (CHF): Widespread across the county with the exception of the north-west and doing well though there is some fluctuation in numbers. Distribution is a little patchy in places though it can be locally abundant particularly at Spurn (eg 563 on 24.9.2006) and at some inland sites (eg 206 on 16.9.2006 at Spofforth). The situation has certainly altered since Porritt's day when he described it as "not generally common" in 1883.
