Most records are of leaf-mines.
Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: Widespread and fairly common, recorded from all five vice counties.
2013 (CHF): Leaf mines are locally common on black poplar across the county. Unlikely to be confused with any other species. A gallery with a thin central frass line widens to almost form a blotch.
