Species Account
2013 (CHF): Many of these records may be unsafe as this species is not common in the county and the leaf mines are thought to be inseparable from those of Stigmella aurella - see comments under this species. For an accurate identification, adults should be bred out. Typical splendidissimella mines have the first centimetre and second half of the mine with frass occupying less than half the width. The mines generally begin with a bend. The track frequently crosses itself but less commonly crosses the midrib.
