For the county, we have a total of 774 records from 126 sites. First recorded in 1849.
Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: Widely recorded from all five vice-counties and is often common, frequently reared from birds' nests.
2014 (CHF): Common and widespread across lowland areas of the county. There is now a regular second brood in the north. Most records are at light though it can be reared sometimes from birds nests. The three spots on each wing make it easily identifiable.
