Species Account
Similar species: The adults from other Yponomeuta species are difficult even by genitalia examination. Identification best done by larval foodplant and some larval and pupal features.
Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: This species (or form) has been confused with Y. cagnagella (Hübner) and its status in the county is uncertain. Agassiz (1987b) summarises the problem posed by the Y. padella complex, it may be that malinellus and caganagella are no more than biological races of Y. padella (Linnaeus).
